Semester 1 exam results

Failed one by failing a Coursework Element - BUT I know I got higher than others in the coursework element and they STILL managed to pass.

How can this be????

I thought it was maximum 10% 10/15 credit module and 5% for 5/7.5 credit modules.

I have never heard of anyone getting compensated more than that....

Usually people do much better in their second semester results.
This is especially true for final year.

I don't want to be filling peoples heads with false hopes either. :eek:

There probably are some sort of official rules on compensation, but from what I've seen over the years, it seems to be pretty flexible. I imagine it differs based on the subject, the lecturer, the degree, your other results and pure luck. I have seen plenty of people compensated more than 5% for 5 credit modules though.

Obviously i should get info off my lecturer and course leader about passing an exam on comp.

But i had 6 exams, this semester, failed chemistry which was 35%

Got over 60% in everything else.

What do i need to get in the summer to pass this by compensation.

All my modules are 5 credits each

When they're calculating your degree do they weigh your results according to the number of credits for a module?

I'm a Postgrad and I'm trying to get a 1.1 this year. I have analysed
it like that as I'm only an average student and if I have a chance at
a 1.1 it will be VERY close!

My results would be weighted in a similar way to my final year.

Sem1 - 30%
Sem2 - 30%
Project - 40%

Haha, thanks... I got them during my chem lab. A few groups were making graphs on Excel and I stole a computer. :rolleyes:
