Does C.I.E still own the track bed from Inny Junction to Cavan Station?

    Regards

I wouldn't have thought so - i think pretty much any line closed prior to the 70s they sold off the alignment.

This is not altogether true. Many, many lines long closed throughout the country are still owned in part by CIE. Even part of the Galway/Clifden line which was lifted before the CIE monster was created. :)

Yep their landbank is simply collosal. If there was an audit done people would be amazed.

Of course, many lines have been encroached on by adjoining landowners, who now have adverse possession.

Quite a lot of the former Cavan + Leitrim narrow gauge trackbed is still in CIE ownership as nobody wanted it. The route of the former MGWR Inny Jn/Cavan line passes through similar terrain (bog/marginal grazing land) and chances are CIE still own some or all of it. :)
