Problem with iPod Touch

I have a problem with my new iPod Touch that I got as a Christmas present. Everytime I am listening to music and I put the iPod in my pocket (or even knock it a bit) it stops the music. I then have to take it back out, unlock it and play the song again. Then lock it again, put it back in pocket and it pauses!!! Really annoying. Is there something that I am doing wrong or is this normal???
Also, got this in States, so can I bring it back to a store here or not?

    thanks for any help

is the headphone connection in fully? I know when it disconnects, it pauses the song.
    Sounds odd...

Yeah it is in fully, but to be honest the headphones I got with it does seem a little loose. Might try with other headphones and see if they make a difference. But if I have it on my lap on the train and the headphones don't move, it still pauses (like when the old discman would skip with movement)!

That's definitely not standard. I turn mine to stand by (not sure if that's what its actually called - I click the button on top left of ipod) and it will still play music. I use mine on the go without hassle.

It's either your earphones (try a different pair just to be sure) or it's hardware related, if it's the iPod itself and you bought it less than a year ago go here and Apple will fix it for you: https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
