Loud DART Horn of some sort... (really a fog horn)

Hey, I'm lodging in Glenageary, and every so often this is this loud horn sort noise blowing every few seconds for maybe an hour at a time coming from what I presume to be that station. Its slightly irritating and I'm desperate to know what it is and why it is. Sad but true!

I've also wondered if maybe its a fog horn all the way in Dun Laoghiare for warning boats about incoming ferries, but I dunno!

a long deep foghorn sounds for about 5 seconds from Dun Laoghaire during foggy conditions, check the weather next time it happens to see if thats it.

It may either be the sound of the HSS horn when it's departing from Dun Laoghaire which spreads and is very loud indeed. Alternatively, it could be the sound of the 09:10 Glenageary Balbriggan service which is a Commuter branded diesel train. This type of train has a two tone horn with a much lower pitch to the one used by DART branded trains which have a very high pitched one tone sound. Commuter branded trains pass Glenageary about 20 times a day altogether and the only one which stops in Glenageary is the 09:10 Balbriggan service. If you are living close enough to Glenageary station the sound of the horn is usually followed by the loud vibrant reverberating sound of it's engine cruising along the tracks.

Even louder and more irritating if you have to live and sleep in the same building as one such as the Fastnet or Bull Rock lighthouse. I once had to put up with them for several days on a two weeks shift. All Lighthouses are unmanned now and are only occupied during maintenance.
