Problem with external hard drive

I have a 750Gb Seagate FreeAgent drive. It worked fine until recently. However it now does not appear on the desktop of my macbook but it appears in disk utility. I have tried to repair it but it just says the volume appears to be ok and the drive still does not appear on the desktop. I have tried restarting laptop and hard drive but no luck. Is there anyway to get access to the what's on the drive as I don't want to have to erase everything on it yet? Any help appreciated!

Have you right clicked on it in Disk Utility and clicked "Show in Finder?"

It won't allow me to choose that option

Can you try the drive on another computer or on windows via bootcamp/parallels/VMWare?

I'm going to try that tomorrow and hopefully it will work!

Do you have anything on the desktop? Is it on a finder window when you browse to your mac hard drive?

I clicked the 'show desktop' checkbox on tinkertool one time without realising it and it stumped me for ages, that's why I asked.

I've checked everywhere on the mac hard drive but it's not there.

It was also the drive the time machine backed up to but now time machine just says nothing is connected!
