    Hi there,

have any of you been to Isola 2000 or know of anyone who has? What is the resort like in terms of:

    snow
pistes (for an almost ammetuer - blue runs)
    nightlife
    food
    expensiveness
    ski hire

    all the usual stuff.

I'm thinking of booking a trip and am sussing it out from the Oirish perspective.

    Thanks!

Try googling "Isola 2000 review" and see what people have to say. Seems to be on the small side (not a problem for you) but generally good reviews. This is definitely the year to try out the smaller less snow-sure resorts as everywhere has great snow.

Hey - was doing a bit of research for Isola 2000 myself. We are in the position to stay in Nice and then drive over every morning (about 90 mins) for a long weekend. All reports seem to indicate that the slopes & snow are good, but the town looks a bit crappy and can be a little dead. Not the best for apres ski. I think it was purpose built in the 70's and not much has been done to the town since.

Used to live in Nice and frequent Isola.
Slopes are OK, for blue level.
Night life is not great, but a few things going on..
Food is as expensive as anywhere in France.
If there's heavy snowfall, you can expect yer hotel windows to rattle in the morning,
as they mortar the snow to kill any potential avalanches.

Went there a couple of times when the missus was working down in Nice. A great little resort for the skiing as long as you're not into crazy kamikaze black-run stuff, you can at one point see over into Italy, although after a week you'll have pretty much seen it all so not recommended for longer trips really. Very little in the way of night life that I could see (not that that bothers me at my age!), restaurants on the slopes OK, but down at the resort it's all a bit too cheese based for my liking (raclette, tartiflette and that kind of thing). The narrow twisty road leading up to the resort from the village of Isola itself down below can get interesting as well when there's been snowfall, and can lead to you being stranded if you're unlucky (or lucky depending on your point of view!)
