I'm organising a hen in May for my best friend who I absolutely adore - I really want her to have a fanatastic time! There will be about 20 of us of various income levels. Most of us are based in Dublin, so it would be good to get out of the city for a night. The necessities would be pleasant, reasonably priced accomodation, good food and a non-intrusive place to eat a nice dinner in. Also, a non-drink based activity for either the afternoon of the Hen would be fantastic too - all recommendations welcome!

Also, are there certain things that have to happen on a hen - traditional hen things? Childhood Photos etc?

Finally, whats the best way to handle the finances so you don't end up getting overly stung yourself as the organiser???

    HELP!

Castlebar's a good spot, only a taxi from Westport too. Breaffy House have a really good 2 night offer on at the moment, it is a bit out of the town though. Days hotel in the middle of town is lovely. I can recommend Cox's for food, good bar/restaurant, love the food there!

As for non-drinking based activities, I did hear of a group of hens who climbed Croagh Patrick a few weeks ago....

I believe that Treacys hotel in Enniscorthy do a really good deal for hen parties.. 2 nights b&b, a daily activity like quad biking or bungee running.. plus dinner on one evening plus they have a nightclub at the hotel aswell, which as far as I know is quite popular. i think it is about 160 pps, which means all people will need is drinking money.. or bring a few bottles to get ye started in the room to cut costs. The best way is probably open up an account with a bank and get people to deposit the money into your bank account. They will probably will only need a deposit and pay the balance when ye get there. I know someone who went on this and they had a ball... plus it is not too far from Dublin. You should check out the hotel website.

    Hope this is helps.

Thanks for all that ladies - I'm trying not to get stressed, but I really don't want to mess it up... Are speeches etc necessary? I've only been on two other hens, and funnily, I can't remember exactly what happened at the dinner...
