Are they getting a new one for the Six Nations this year?

    thanks

I would doubt there's a new one coming just yet, this current jersey being less than 2 years old if memory serves me right.

Arnott's if their sale is still on would be your best bet, it's where I got the match fit one for about €63 (down from €100) though this was a year ago or so at this point.

I know that ProDirectRugby.com are selling the RWC jersey for £9.99.

Worth a punt, but like most fans might not want to be reminded for our performance in the World Cup......

Rumour has it that we are changing to puma.I would welcome this.

I know some people hate the new jerseys and the no collars etc.

But I think puma pull it off better than canterbury.I like this one

Not the best pic of it tbh

There's another year with the current Jersey and Canterbury. New Jersey when it comes will also feature the new IRFU crest.

New IRFU crest?! I like the current one, why are they changing? A new jersey would be great tbh, that jersey we have now has coincided with the worst Irish performances for a decade!

I think the best 2 jersey types by a mile are two really small (and Irish if I'm not mistaken!!) ones.

    Rugbytech:

    And Kukri jersey

The only thing worse than Addidas is Canterbury and apperantly, the only thing worse than Canterbury is Puma!!!

    Not a fan tbh jackass.
I think if we are to stick with the rugby league style jerseys you have to go the whole hog,you cant half ass it.

Kooga do nice jerseys actually - Quins one for example. Nice cut to them.

RugbyTech jerseys are the bee's knees... I have a black London Irish one, nicest jersey I have by far!

Want to get the green Connacht one..

Would be great if Ireland went with Rugbytech IMO

Likewise, I don't think they should change it as the current one is great. The press release just said that they were modernizing it in to reflect the updated surrounds of Lansdowne road.

bought the green connaught one a while back - doubles for an ireland jersey for me as I just dont like the current one. think RubyTech look the best at the moment

Have to say I love the Connacht jersey

Have jerseys, both union and league in abundance...but easily the highest quality of them are my KooGa tops. In a different league to all the other brands.Recently got a Quins RL jersey and it is fantastic quality. Puma League jerseys are excellent, and I love my Rugbytech LI.

I know the current Irish jersey isn't too popular but I have to say I quite like it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,283 ✭✭✭Deedsie

I wonder would they ever change to O'Neills? I always liked there gear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,739 ✭✭✭Jello

Realistically if the IRFU are going to change then they'll go with whoever is willing to pay them the most money, and tbh I don't think that's gonna be O'Neills, Kooga or Rugby Tech.

Must say though I quite like the new green Lions training jersey, wouldn't mind seeing an Irish version of it:

My fave jersey of the mo definitely has to be the new Ospreys jersey

Imagine an Irish version of that, green with Celtic runes all over it, and without all the whorish branding. Would be s*** cool :D

That Lions jersey is really nice. I really like the collar on it.

Ireland will be wearing a puma jersy come 6nations time.

Is that a personal opinion or do you have insider info? :)

If its Puma, its all good. Really like their stuff. The 2008 St. Helens shirt is a cracker too, although they've ballsed it up this year...

Don't precisely know why, but everytime I see a 'Hairsprays' Jersey on an Irish person, I'm overcome with a desire to scream abusive comments.

edit: Celtic Runes??? Are we trying to market it to American tourists?

Just checked and current contract with Canterbury runs out this year. Still think it's 2008.

No other jersey triggers that response. Not Stade Francais, Wasps etc. It's probably rooted in my hatred for Henson.

Much heavier, higher quality material than soccer jumpers.

Does anyone have any definitive news on the Ireland shirt for the 6N? Is it to be changed or is the old pattern still going to be used? Just managed to score tickets for the england game in Croker and want to get meself an Ireland union shirt, will hold off if a new one is in the pipeline....

Ireland will be wearing a puma jersy come 6nations time.

If you're going to make authoritative comments like that, can you at least try back them up? Is this your opinion or perceived fact? How do you know this is the case?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 785 ✭✭✭ALH-06

I actually really like some of the Canterbury jerseys. The new Leinster training jersey (royal blue and gold) is beautiful.

The problem with Canterbury though is that their jerseys are too popular now. So many teams are wearing them and their designs look tired and unoriginal. It's also annoying that they use the same jerseys for different clubs and national sides, only changing the colours...

I think I read a note in the Sindo that Puma were taking over the jersey contract after the 6 nations? Don't have a copy with me to confirm this.

Alot of people are saying it.From the amount of times ive heard it,I would say its true.

I highly doubt they'll be changing the jersey before the 6 Nations. Most contracts seem to run til the end of the 6 Nations for these kind of things and its getting awfully close to be launching a new jersey I would have thought.

I could live with that. The Samoa jersey is quite nice. I know this was posted above, but here a better pic of it :D

There would be no way any team would change their jersey after Christmas and before the 6N.

I don't mind who makes the new jersey as long as it has a collar, it doesn't look like a RL, GAA or Soccer jersey. I also want to go back to the lighter green, the dark green just doesn't say "paddy".

Who said anything about changing it before these 6 nations.

It will be after the 6 nations at some time,I hate the collar btw and thank god it wont be back ever.

I think they need to take a leaf out of the Ospreys book,it looks more like a RL jersey, which is clearly the look they must want if they ditched the collar and tried to make it tight fitting.

Maybe I did,I had a few beers the last time I commented on this thread.

I would agree with you that it would be very unlikely they would introduce them until after the 6 nations at the least.

Gotta say im pretty happy with the Canterbury Skin Fit jerseys that the Ireland team use at present, dont see a reason to change as Canterbury has always produced quality Rugby Gear.
