Having been plugged in press releases since Early 2008, the final product is in the can, and ready for broadcast on the 15th of Jan at 9.30 pm on TG4. :

    _____

    Feirm Factor

It’s Agriculture – with a bit of bull – in a new x-factor style show for farmers.
A Nationwide search has found 12 farmers aged from 18 to 60 to compete on Feirm Factor for a top-of-the-range Land Rover.
The men and women will face a series of tasks – including backing a tractor through obstacles, making a silage pit and guessing the weight of a bull.
“We are looking for Irelands finest farmer, and they have to show they have the ability to do all the things farmers do and a little bit off the farm” series producer Evan Chamberlain said, “ the support for the show so far has been overwhelming”.
“It is a great opportunity for farmers to show themselves as great business people”
The show was filmed over Summer 2008 in agricultural colleges throughout Ireland.
Having a cupla focal proved to be a bonus, but producers were not putting pressure on entrants to speak Irish.

There will be no public vote and judges will choose the winner.

    The tasks will include:

Tractor Backing – Against the clock
Showing strength and stamina by stacking bales or shovelling grain
Guessing the weight of the bull
Buying the best animal at the best price at a mart
    Milking a cow by hand
    Cooking and serving a meal
Teaming up to make a silage pit.

There's no Simon Cowell, sadly (thus denying the Irish viewing public of the image of the high-waisted dwarf telling some redneck that "Honestly, you are the worst guesser of a Bull's weight I have ever had the misfortune to come across. And I include Mariah Carey in that. Seriously. Go be a singer. Farming is not for you. " , but very tall man & former Fine Gael Leader Alan Dukes is a more than able replacement for the wonkily-constructed music mogul.

I wont be watching, as , well, I cant be bothered, but I do wish them the best of luck, although I think they missed an opportunity by not calling it "The Tractor Factor".
