As im the one with the credit card, I was thinking Manchester.

We plan to go at the end of Jan/start of feb, so any festivals/events anyone know of on those dates?

    All suggestions welcome .

    Thanks.

manchester / glasgow for going out...

london is good for sightseeing but people tend to go out more in their local areas so the city centre is not great for going out pub-crawling unless you know where you're going, plus generally northerners are friendlier

brighton is good but accomodation is relatively expensive and grotty

edinburgh is not bad, but i dont think its as much craic as glasgow

OP, what are you after and where are you flying from? presuming it is Dubln and you are after a weekend of clubbing and general having a good time, then Manchester, Liverpool or Newcastle are probably the best bets. If you go to Newcastle though, it is not the done thing to go out at night wearing anything more than a short sleeved shirt and Newcastle is about two miles from the north pole:D

If you fancy a weekend of sightseeing, having a good time and spending a lot of money, then London is..well London is London tbh, it is a great city and always worth a visit.

Most of the major places will appeal though, you can have a good night out in Bristol, Leeds or even Bournemouth for example

depends what you are into, manchester is a very gay friendly town and many of the bars/clubs cater to that segment. liverpool is ok, lots of small bars cum clubs and very large clubs. most of central london shuts up shop in the middle of the week after 11pm, you will still find a few good bars after that time though. blackpool is great craic on weekend nights, its alot like galway and has the biggest nightclub in britain. tonnes of bars and clubs up near the north pier

was in edinburgh during the week and there wasn't many out but found some good spots regardless, very touristy town though

Yeah fly Dublin to London and do the normal touristy stuff. Great time any time of year.
