whats it like this time of year, much to see, where to stay etc?

as ever, personal recommendations are valuable - searching for "Nice" in this forum comes up with lots of stuff but not all of it about France :P

Hi I was there in late October for 2 nights the weather was fab!! bout 24 degrees probably colder now though :( not much to do in Nice itself but we went to Cannes for a day...only 45 mins by train lots of nice restaurants etc. The beach in Nice is not a sandy one you have to travel for this but at this time of year its not really beach weather either!! If you take the bus tour trip you'll have it seen in an hour. Its a very relaxed place, lovely for walking around and has nice shops too!

Around this time of year weather is pleasant enough. Around 14 - 16C during the day but quite cold at night. If it's sunny it will be warmer than that. It can be nippy in shaded areas too, especially around the narrow streets of the old town.

Word of warning though, when the weather is bad in Nice (as with the whole Riviera) it's really BAD. Makes for interesting viewing when the sea is so rough it crashes onto the prom!

I am going there in Feb. The Cannes idea sounds great. Was the train expensive?

Its about €10 return. Also same price to Monaco (opposite direction) and visit Eze on the way back from Monaco - bus serrviuce to all towns pretty good and even cheaper.

i would definitly recommed monaco. Its very expensive when your there but worth it for the spectacle.

its very important when your in Nice to plan when your eating. its near impossible to find food between 2 and 7. there is cheap pizza and lots of ice cream but lunch seems to be around 11 there.

also, people in Nice don't like to speak english very much even if you try to speak to them in french. just be prepared for that. also the public transport finishes very early apart from their luas. but its very very very unreliable but walking at night is very safe.

was there in nov last year. it was 24 degrees.

hope you have an amazing time!
