My tv can see that there is something on those channels but doesn't lock onto them. Would I be right to assume that this would be because there is no audio or video being broadcast? Or would it be because I am using a clothes hanger to pick up the signal and the signal is not strong enough?

What are you trying to tune them in on?

I don't think an analogue tuner will see DTT signals as much more than a different type of fuzz.

Picked it up today in Carrigaline . My meter identitfied all four muxes as MPEG4 DTT ,but with no network info, sound or vision. Just a blank carrier.
Serious digital noise on analogue pictures from Crosshaven.

My television has an MPEG4 tuner.

RTÉ One, Two, TV3 and TG4 along with Radio 1, 2, RnaG and Lyric are now broadcasting in Dungarvan on DTT. No breakup with a clothes hanger so this will supplement the free channels on a Sky box perfectly

I am wondering what all of this has to do with DTT in Dungarvan?

You neglected to mention the channel/frequency carrying this MUX Mossy :)

Its on Ch55, (746MHz centre frequency)

Its also the first time TV3 has been available from this transmitter in any way, as it is not carried in Analogue from this transmitter.

As an update to Rippy's post, there appear to be no DTT test 'carriers' on at present (checked today) on the other 3 DTT channels allocated to Dungarvan (59,62,65).

Indeed I did. My tv automatically tuned them in for me. Turned it on and there they were :)

this is apparently off at the moment Mossy?

I don't know if this has been mentioned in another thread already, but the RTE MUX from Dungarvan has moved to Ch 62 (802MHz centre) some weeks? ago - it had been on Ch 55.

Of the 4 DTT channels allocated to Dungarvan, Ch 62 is least likely to impair analogue signals in other areas - see Rippy's comments above (none of the other 3 MUX channels are currently being tested).
