Hey guys, you might be able give me some advice, i'm buying my first set of clubs soon, up until now I had been using my dads hand-me-downs (really old wilson irons, a ping rapture hybrid, Callaway ERC Fusion Driver and rubbish old 3 and 5 wood). They were stolen from my car over Xmas so i'm gonna have to invest in a set.

The irons were steel shafts and really heavy but I was used to them, I've tried my dads Callaway graphite irons since and I hit them terribly so i'm not sure what kind of shafts I should go for. I'm a relative beginner but i'm determined to get playing regularly this year (shooting around 100 generally) so I don't have any real preferences yet but I need everything except for a putter.

Any advice what and more particularly where to buy?

The most important thing is to have a custom fitting session so you know exactly what type of clubs to get.

the best advice i can give u is on ebay, st.andrews set. around 120 quid you get a bag (nice size) 3 beautiful blue square head woods 1/3/5 3-pw and i think an umberalla. my mate has bought them and my dad and they are a top quality set espec the irons. i bought a howson set which are great and im still using the irons but the st.andrews for getting back into golf are fantastic

Don't know what your budget is, and as you need the entire set, not sure if you'd follow my route of gradual upgrade.

I bought a set of Wilson ci-6 irons (3-PW) back in Aug/Sep from ebay. Usual stuff really when going on there, make sure seller has a good feedback, but you can get good deals.
Mine cost €170 delivered from the US (I didnt get done for tax as they were sent through USPS not a courier), now I'll be gradually upgrading my wedges & woods.
Got a bag in Elverys for €55, good deal.
