Does everyone agree these warnings on the TV ads are getting beyond ridiculous? I mean, I can understand "Contains strong sexual scenes" "Contains extreme Violence" "Contains scenes of torture" etc...

    but Seven pounds..
    "Contains scenes of intense emotion"

    WTF?!?!

"Dont go to this if you want to see actors displaying emotion" ?????????

I'm still cheesed off about having to sit through five minutes of FBI warnings, logos and bullshit preachy "you wouldn't steal a car" crap after I buy a DVD. Never have this hassle when I just download a rip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭zuroph

how far can this go though?!?

"contains a scene where the head is in the box"
"contains a scene where verbal kint is revealed to be..."

OMG I noticed this last night aswell, WTF?? having to warn people they might feel a bit teary? some american idiot probably sued cos her mascara ran during a sad film.

The worst I've seen is "Warning: May contain mild slapstick"

    WFT is mild slapstick?!?!?!?!!?

I don't know what people are complaining about tbh. That's a very useful warning so blokes can leave in advance. It's the equivalent of the old "if you have children in the room, you might want to take them out now" warning but for grown men.

I wish they'd had this kind of a warning before Brokeback Mountain. I thought the old spaghetti western genre was making a comeback. Boy was I wrong!

on good films they'll start warning "may require brain activity"

it would be a flop in America with a warning like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,217 ✭✭✭TheIrishGrover

for Team America trailer: "For graphic crude and sexual behavior, violent images and strong language - all involving puppets."

    Awesome

"May contain scenes of peril" is my favourite.

I ,too, hate the "you wouldn't steal a car; you wouldn't steal a handbag" ****e.

    Presumptuous bastards.

Ironically the only way to avoid all the piracy warnings is to pirate it

in america they do regularily get "Warning- some subtitles"

Can be useful too though. When they say at the start they say that "this film contains scenes of an explicit sexual nature" it lets you know that there's going to be good spanking material when otherwise you might just skip passed it.

Yeah they are getting ridiculous...the ad for some movie recently had "may contain scenes of choreographed violence"...think it was Transporter 3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭zuroph

but when they say it in the ads, ur missus says, "oh yeah, THATS why you want to go to it" and u get in trouble before the film even begins.

Actually i'm currently in sweden where films are in english with swedish sub titles. Warnings about sub titles would be handy because i won't understand those bits

Why do they not seem to know though, it either does or it doesn't, why the uncertainty in the warning?

Exactly, danger chick flick alert. I hate the amount of comedies that just turn into chick flicks half way through with no fecking warning. I thought the trailer for 7 pounds looked interesting, won't bother with it now.
