Not sure if this was posted before but the latest version of DVBViewer (v4 20/12/08) has support for the Freesat EPG. Follow the instructions in the change log. Works very well. Along with the Irish DTT channels this works very well as a fully functional PC TV solution

Is this the first full free 7 day EPG solution for Irish and UK FTA?

yes and no, xmltv allowed downloading of a full epg for most of the fta channels for a long time now, all the ones covered by freesat anyway. the output from xmltv could then easily be imported into any tv app that supported it. Apps like mediaportal also have supported dopwnloding of the epgs for some time now without xmltv but they basically just integrated the xmltv functionality into their source code.

still nice to see more options though

But weren't these previous solutions from ip sources like Radio Times? This is downloading from the freesat transponder.

yeah they were, i guess i didn't read your last line as being specific to the transponder as a source

someone posted a mthod of extracting the epg form one of the freesat channels a while back on here. it did require a couple of different applications to use it, but it is likely dvbviewer is doing the same

anywho anyhow, as a dvbviewer owner it's all good news anyway..:)

What I like about it is that it downloads Radio schedules for the RTE and BBC stations. This means I can schedule recordings of radio shows now as well.

I've been using DVBViewer a lot over the last couple of months and like it a lot. It's far more stable than Mediaportal though the UI isn't that wife and kids friendly.

Could you tell me how you got your Irish channels tuned in. My dvb viewer scan only picks up the freesat channels. Is there some manual tuning required?

in case you didn't know, only Irish radio channels are available, not the tv channels. i grab the radio channels guides over satellite as well, but it is from sky, not from freesat

If you get yourself a DVB-T tuner, you can pick up the Irish channels on the DTT test. The Irish 7 day EPG is integrated seamlessly into the Freesat EPG. I have had it working since I installed DVBviewer PRO 4 back in January.
