Irish Rail - 5 day rail ticket

So i got the train for the first time since the fares went up (again). A return from Leixlip to Connolly had been €3.80. Its now gone up 40c to €4.20! (The train then preceeded to shuffle along the tracks and arrive in town 10 minutes late, packed to the gills.

I was looking at ticket prices and realized that theres only a 3 day ticket, and a 7 day ticket. Since so many of Irish Rail's customers are commuters working a standard mon-fri 5 day week, why isnt there a 5 day return ticket?

Was there previously this option or am I just missing something?

Nope, it's been like that for years. I can only assume it's IR's attempt to extract more money from commuters.

It is. There used to be a 10 journey ticket, which was even better since you didn't have to make all 10 journeys in the same week, but they got rid of that some years ago.
