I had a terrible xmas. I was sick for the majority of it and because of this I didn't get to go out at all. Boards wasn't the same, there didn't seem to the same people on it as usual and I put this down to be them not being in work incredibly bored.

Anyone else feels great to be back at work and finished with all this Xmas/New year malarkey

Totally agree with this! I was sick over the entire Christmas but I'm not glad to be back at work!

Are you only back today? Are you a teacher or some other job with loads of holidays?

Not aimed at you OP, but if I was off work until January 5th, I wouldn't be complaining

Meh, I'm only back today but I only get 25 days a year and work shedloads of unpaid overtime and don't get time off in lieu when I have to work weekends. So I feel justified in only being back today and not being happy to be back :)

Meh, I can't say I measure how good/bad my Christmas was by how interesting the threads on boards were, so...

First day back in work today...and it's dreadful :(

I only get 20 days and I'm only back today too. I had to use 5 days enforced leave for the xmas break.

I didn't measure my xmas by this. I was sick and confined to bed so Boards was the logical answer but it felt deserted.

Flight delays and mental taxi and bus queues in Dublin airport meant I didn't get home until about 2 last night. Couldn't get to sleep then for hours. Woke up to find the pipes to the shower had frozen again.

Today is not a good day to be back at work.

On the up side I'm off to New York for a week next Thursday! :D

I've never been so depressed as I was this morning. Getting out of bed was nearly impossible and it was all dark and cold outside :(

Then I spent the whole afternoon in the gym in work and felt happy again. Training is fun.

I was back on the 29th, I'm thrilled Christmas is over. The tree is down, my house is clean and bright. All the clutter back in the attic. I love this time of year, spring is on the way and holidays to look forward to.

Went back today after two weeks off. I stayed up late drinking nearly every night over the hols, so I found it impossible to go to sleep early last night. I kept waking up in a cold sweat and got about 2 hours sleep overall.

I spent all of today at work in THE HORRORS and I'm still in bits now. I wanted to go straight to bed when I got home but I knew I'd probably wake up at four in the morning and not be able to sleep. If I stay up til 10, I should get a good night's kip and set my sleep cycle back to normal. Tough going though, my hands are shaking and I got killed in Call Of Duty a while ago and my eyes welled up with tears. It took me ages to type this.

It was a pain in the tits being back in the office today. I tried to do as little as possible and slowly settle back in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭metaoblivia

It was terrible going back to work today. I was restless last night and was so tired and had to make so many copies. But I bought myself a nice dress online. So far, that's been the only upside.
It was even a terrible day for wildlife. My office overlooks a big lake. It's mostly frozen over, and a deer got stuck in the middle of it today. There was a big effort to rescue it, and news helicopters were flying around our office.

Me too. I still managed to send a hell of a lot of emails (work-related!) though....I'd love to see what I'd achieve if I put in some effort..
