Watched it tonight and thought it was excellent.Good story, great performances from Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber, just a proper WWII film.

    Ya it looks good IMO,

I've had a pleasure to watch it too.
Very good WWII movie, however - don't expect to learn all the history from it.
As most facts are kept correctly - this movie obviously (guess who put money on the table to film it...) doesn't even mention the darker side of Jews and Bielski guerilla.

Bielski brothers were not only heroic and noble partisans (fair play to them), but actually they were involved and commited many war crimes, mainly massacre of 128 people in the polish town of Naliboki in 1943.

This is why I don't like that much watching war movies (apart from great explosions and action), as most of them represent history in more or less false mirror screen.
How many times have we seen heroic, brave and noble americans... etc. you know what I mean

This movie follows Hollywood pattern as well, however it's really nice to watch and will give you great 2 hours in the cinema as long as you don't bother about true history that much.

Its a fine film but drags a slight bit in the middle.
Critically it unjustifiably hasnt been well received but its well worth a watch.

Defiance, Good, Valkyrie, The Reader... because 2009 is the 70th anniversary of the year WWII started perhaps?

The movie Defiance will be realeased in Ireland on Jan 9th.
You don't happen to have a torrent for next Saturday's Lotto while you're at it?

Some very good scenes... the acting was generally good, with the three brothers being excellent I thought.

But it was overall a big meh... dragged a lot and got quite boring at parts.

Plus those accents kinda annoyed me.

Saw it a while back.. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Its true that maybe it drags on a little, but its still a good film, i'd recommend it to anyone that likes war films. Just don't expect it to be chock-full of action.

How is Craig's accent in it?

    Hardly Irish :D

Biggest nonsense is that Craig and other Jews speak English in the first place!
It's like making a movie Wind That Shakes The Barley with all people speaking in Polish - LOL :D

For me he sounds like Russian, actually this comes as no surprise, I find all English native speakers completely crap at pretending East European accents. They all end up with Russian accent, which is really weird for someone who actually knows how speaks English language guy from Russia, how guy from Poland and how let's say guy from Lithuania... :p

Watched it last night with herself, thought it was ok - Craigs accent was a bit dodgy alright, story seems a bit of a stretch on the truth. Herself got bored and went off to do washing up halfway through....

It's not the most accurate on the facts all right. Still a worthwhile movie to watch.

Just back from Defiance. Not bad. Depressing. Thought the performances were good, bar the accents of which more in the next paragaraph.

Havent seen Valkrye yet but want to. One way in which it will be better then Defiance is that from what I hear, Tom Cruise doesnt attempt to do a German Accent. In Defiance, if both Daniel Craig and Liev Schriver made the effort to learn Russian&sounded very competent doing so, why then didnt they learn to speak Belrussian cos them speaking English with a German twang came across terribly, nearly as bad as Tom Cruise doing his Oirish thing in Far&Away.

Dont know what is worse, actors trying to do Irish or German accents
