I dont think there is a universal "good" moisuriser, different ones suit different skin types! Can you go to a counter, get a sample until you find one that suits?

My skin is incredibly dry too! I heard you have to change moisturiser in the winter (??) so I thought I'd give it a go. Using Sanctuary face moisturiser, find it very good but it's early days! :P Think it's just trial and error with moisturisers, esp this time of year.

It is trial and error changing moisturiser - try and get a few samples from counters as suggested.

    This thread might help you

I use two moisturisers, depending on whether I'm planning on wearing foundation or not. I use Vanishing Cream by Lush which is great during the winter months. I also use the Body Shop Tea Tree Oil moisturiser if I'm wearing foundation or during the summer :)

    Hi

I recently have been suffering from dry skin too and I have started to use Astral face cream- though only at night as I find it quite heavy so if I put it on at night it has plenty of time to absorb into my skin. The cream itself is sooooo cheap so maybe give it a go- you can get it in all chemists and is in a little blue tub.

I also sometimes out 8 hour cream onto my face- especially my forehead if it is really flaky. Again at night time

With the central heating and coming in and out of the cold, it plays havoc with the skin. My forehead has got very dry so I slap on a heavier cream at night.

Just choose a nice rich cream and use at night. The Astral cream is very rich but is very good for dry skin. It is a bit of an old lady cream (Queen Elizabeth II uses it) but it does the good and is cheap too.

Exfoliate as well to get rid of the dead flakey skin.

I had a serious drought on my skin last winter! It went totally dry and flaky and lasted for months! I tried everything to no avail but it was finally on the recommendation of a friend (and I did laugh when she said it :o ) that I gave astral a go and hey presto my skin was restored!!! Seriously, this is good stuff. Obviously too heavy for day wear, but as a night cream its the job! Also good auld nivea creme is just as good and just as cheap.

This year Im using Vichy aqua balm during the day, and so far so good.

I love the Body Shop Vitamin E moisturiser and Benefit's Dear John!

I actually find Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturiser (the yellow one) very good.

I was out of moisturuser while shopping in Lidl and bought their day/night creams for under €4 each. find them brilliant. Use the sensitive sking one for day. Used to get dry patches on my forehead and these have gone. Was only going to use them for emergency until I could but my usual in BT's but they are so good have switched and saved a packet!

I rarely use anything apart from Simple Facial wipes but if I do use a cream I use Oil of Ulay (or whatever it is called now) for sensitive skin...not too greasy and feels nice!

Used to get terrible dry skin, use some Hackett London manly man moisturiser. Does the job, and smells lovely too apparently. Back of the net.

I have a few recommendations varying in price!

Aldi do a fantastic anti ageing moisturiser, it has q10 apparently whatever that does but I have tried this and it's brillian, they do it in a day and night cream an it's only 2.99 per jar.

Nivea Q10 is great too, and fairly cheap I think at around €10

Then if you're spending a few quid try clarins multi action day cream for dry skin, it's gorgeous going on you can nearly feel it working straight away.

Stay away from products with salicylic acid as they are designed for oily skin, for example garnier pure.....

I love oil of ulay too. I've tried loads of cheap to expensive moisturisters and oil of ulay complete care is my favourite. My skin is combination, I find using it with the st Ives scrub gets rid of the flaky skin and the moisturiser is just strong enough to keep the dry areas moist with out the rest of my skin looking greasy

I always used oil of olay but my skin went mental around October (dry and very sensitive) I tried a few different moisturisers, but found the ones for dry skin wouldn't absorb properly.
Settled with boots botanics skin calming cream. I find it great, I like that it has plant extracts, I use the scrub aswell.
