Files dissappearing from USB!

My girlfriend plugged in her USB to edit some college work she needs to hand up on wednesday, but the files had dissappeared. They were in a folder and all the files except for two had gone. She checked if they had gone hidden for any reason but no luck.

Can anyone help? She needs this by Tuesday and it's 50% of the marks for that class.

She's using windows Vista if that's important.

    Please help!

You mean a 'USB' hard drive ?Seems mysterious .They cant just 'disappear' .Anyone got access to it .Sorry but I have no rational suggestions whatsoever other than accidental or deliberate deletion by someone .

Oh wait ,of course you probably mean a USB memory stick...Right....These things can be temperamental. Is she sure they were actually on it to begin with ?They can take a long time to transfer data and she might have taken it out too early?

I had this problem a while back. I tried various file recovery programs but to no avail. You may find something that would work for you, but I'm sure others could make better recommendations than me.

Thanks for the replies guys. The files were definetely there. I saw them myself on my computer, and I safely removed it when I was done (ironically, because I didn't want to accidentally delete any files that were on it).

I haven't heard of it happening before, and I've never had a problem with USB sticks (except losing them). Do ye think those files are long gone or is there any hope?

And thanks again for all your time. Appreciate it.

Well they are not on USB stick.so do a search of your pc/laptop and see if they are there ( start , search etc,)

Next time you are shifting folders from one destination to another , remember to copy them instead of moving

They weren't dragged and dropped, they were saved there. I'll have a look around anyway, thanks for replying.
