I'm not gonna say good sense of humour so :P... but it's great when you're with someone you can really laugh with... even at silly random stuff. I love being with someone who gets into stitches at the same things I do.

    +1 :D

Non materialistic = very important... big turn off if a guy is obsessed by 'stuff' or always going on about money. I'd rather be with someone who's sound and broke... at the end of the day, an arsehole with loads of money is still an arsehole.

A reasonable level of intelligence - doesn't have to be a brainiac but it's nice to be able to have a decent conversation.

Personal hygiene!! B.O./smelly feet/bad breath = biggest turn off ever. Same goes for farting.
And I also can't stand intolerant guys, racist, homophobic etc. Grinds my gears big time.

Kindness does it for me, compassion. And being able to accept other people have an opinion that may differ from theirs.

Physically.... I tend to give a second glance to guys that have a bit of meat on their bones... not obese or anything - well built (and not in the musclebound kind of way). And I kinda like guys with beards...

Don't ask for much, do I...

Ok, you got me on that one, if your looking purely at the ass and it is goooood then the whole package would probably have to be taken into consideration after the initial 'viewing' lol.

Difficult to say who has the nicer butt but if the butt is the only thing on display that would be a difficult call to make methinks.......:)

Spontaneity, an ability to express his emotions, and a laid back nature. The sexiest thing a guy ever said to me was "I'm scared." That sort of honesty is rare but so attractive to me.

I realize you're probably joking, but it's exactly that attitude that makes it difficult for men to share their feelings. It takes a hell of a lot more balls to open up than to keep things bottled in. For the life of me I can't understand why a man should be emasculated for showing emotion.

And no, he wasn't a eunuch. He was a very strong, masculine man who just happened to also be one of the best listeners and conversationalists that I've ever met. It's a pity there aren't more like him in the world.

The above qualities are attractive, not to mention someone i can have a laugh with and when i say that i mean someone who doesnt take -me- too seriously iv learnt that i need someone like that to balance me out.

Usueally when a man share's his emotion's show's affection its branded as needyness and that tends to be a big turn of for the majority of women.....

How ever I actuly understand the need to express one's emotion's..
Take depression, how depression is caused is simply buy not being able to express talk about your emotion's because of the fact that men get slagged also majority of men dont talk... So yes my I fully understand your point and hole heartedly agree with what your saying.... :)....

Well there are plenty of conversationalists and people who can talk as well as listen.....

I was only trying to have a joke because i blame captain jack sparrow :)

I really can't understand how it is supposed to be manly to be emotionally stoic. It seems a cowardly thing to me.
It doesn't seem a very Irish. We are supposed to have passionate feeling natures for Nordies.

My ex-boyfriend had to take listening lessons as part of his training.
Apparently they thought that his field suffered in this aera, as a result of being male dominated.
Anyway best idea ever! That is what they should do when we are getting the lady problem discussion in school.

I have a terrible weakness for men who are kind to others.

I do like guys that are cheeky :D Physically I usually go for brunettes/black hair. I like when a guy smiles and it makes you want to smile. I like when they play for some sport (rugby/football/GAA). And this sounds weird but there are some guys, who are usually into sport, who walk like they have a sore leg. They may not have a sore leg but they just walk like they do!

The kind of man who interests me is the kind who's not afraid to take chances and goes for what he wants. A man who pulls out all the stops to get/do the job he loves.

    I like intresting* people

It's a throwback to those personal ads in the papers from the eighties/nineties, I don't know if it's still used though.

    Tall, blonde, handsome type? NO

Dont want a scram for the mirror in the morning.

Heart beat and available and a look that says "Hell yeah" if im honest :D

The rest i'm willing to find out along the way. Why write people off instantly because they don't tick a particular box?

We all want the charming, witty, funny, strong, loving, challenging, emotionally available, sexy, DIY king.

No one's perfect, it takes a while to get to know someone, if there's a spark between us then it's worth a shot IMO

Ive a tendancy to bring that out in people :-) creepy can be funny so long as its not actually true ;-)

Well, if life changes is what he was scared of; depending on the context of course, it exposes more positives about him than anything else. To use an example I suppose, if it were work related or even buying a new home- it reveals hes ambitious and a go-getter to get himself that far. If it was what I think it was- openess, honesty, and even brave! ;-)

a man that can talk about something else than getting pissed and how much they can drink.... a man that can hold a conversation about things that interest me.... well I know I might get banned for this but a good sense of humor is a must, love tongue and cheek.... look wise, Irish always seem to be a good start, but seriously i wouldn't really have a type as such but i prefer the man to be taller than me...
and oooooh might sound silly but he has to be kind to animals.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 442 ✭✭Papillon87

Highly intelligent, articulate men. Bonus points for being well-read. I have to admit that I've gotten to the stage where if I discover (through texting etc.) that a guy isn't the best on the old spelling/grammar front, I lose a significant amount of interest in him. I must be quite the odd-ball. :o

Physically, I wouldn't pigeon-hole myself as having a type that I go for, but having said that, I seem to gravitate toward tall, built/bulky men. Not attracted to skinny men or muscly types. Arms and eyes are my weakness.

Anyway, intelligence is definitely my top turn-on.

Ha, I'm the same way! Not too long ago I was sorta seeing this guy and he had the worst spelling I had ever seen in my life. Most of my responses to his texts were "Huh??". It was a huge turnoff. Man was I relieved to find out he was dyslexic.

Hurray, I am not alone in my Grammar Nazi ways! At least I'm not the only one who finds it a turn-off. Was beginning to think of myself as a bit of a biatch. I'm honestly not shallow at all when it comes to physicality...so this must be my flaw! :D

You're definitely not alone. Many of my friends are the same. I didn't think I was shallow with regards to physicality but then I wouldn't date a guy who was only like an inch taller than me, which I thought was pretty normal but my lady friends said I was being silly. Oh well.
