    Ryder,

I can only comment on the price difference between the two, assuming full carbon 2008 models, you can get the FP5 with Dura-Ace for € 2,170

Whereas the Cervelo Soloist with Dura Ace is nearly twice as much at € 4,100

Given that price difference I dont think they would be comparable bikes unless Cervelo is taking the p1ss with their pricing.

    All the best,

    Murph

Thanks. Yeah the cervelo is expensive but can be gotten a bit cheaper on uk sites. Both are their respective entry level carbon models (with ultegra) was just wondering what their like to ride. Will prob end up going for the pinarello.

If it was me i'd go for the Pinarello.I've just got a Paris and built it up with Record ten speed and it handles fantastic, especially at speed.I wouldn't touch a Cervelo.A frame that is made for about a £100 and sold for £2000+ wouldn't be my cup of tea.Plenty of middle making money from the frame.Go with the Pinarello you won't be disappointed.Trust me...;)

As someone mentioned here before the soloist would not be suitable in this country due to strong cross winds. Pinareallo seems a good price for the money

@murph- a lot of that price difference on Slanecycles would be in the wheels; the Pinarello is specced with an absolute entry-level Shimano wheelset (WH-RS10) while the Cervelo includes your choice of Zipps which retail well over €1,000 on their own.

Is that because of the big bottom bracket?

    Feck !! Blorg you're right !!

I hadn't scrolled down past the Dura - Ace bits, hmmmmm nice spec, but still € 1K above the Pinarello. Is the frame that much better or is it as Pinarello said " a €100 frame sold for €2000 ", of course, assuming that Pinarello is not biased towards the Pinarello ... erm... ?

I was looking at the Cervelo RS frame which seems pretty good for the money and might suit an old git like me :
