Whats your opinion off Israeli's military campaign in Gaza at the moment?.

How effective do you think its been, and how do you see the commencement of artillary & naval bombardment?.

And do you foresee an complete occupation as being necessary, at least for an intrim period?.

Given that the Pals have litte experience of DIBUA oor FIBUA in comparison to the IDF what kind of tactics would you expect the Pals to use?.

Of course the question is open to everyone.

Our American/NATO Brethren call it MOUT (Military Operation Urban Terrain);):D

And If I may.........., I would think if they were the ones to break the ceasefire, they are ready for an IDF MOUT operation... with a little help from the Hezzies who were involved in the last war/battle with the IDF.

In my opinion, what they are doing is exactly what the hezzies did in Lebanon..Launch rockets into Israel, and hope they commit to a ground war, which again in my opinion the IDF do not wish to do.

Not at this late stage anyway.

The IDF's big strenght in the past has been pre-emptive strikes against its enemies, I understand the IDF general command wanted to launch an operation against Hamas targets a long time ago.

Another 'new' to this campaign, and the last Lebanon offensive it Israel having a PM who doesn't have a military background.

I thought some people called it "FISH?"
    (Fighting In Someone's House)

They've been using mortars and naval gunfire for a few days, it's not just in the last day. One school of thought is that the plan will be to section off the Strip into pieces, cordon off one piece, clear it, and move up to the next piece. Of course, this'll take quite a while, but if you're going to do a job, it's worth doing it properly. If they do it end-to-end, however, they won't need 'occupation-level' amounts of forces in the areas they've cleared, just a small rear guard should do the job. Basically, it's a sweep, or beaters to the gun line.

Should be interesting to see how the heavy APCs work, I saw a number of them in the staging areas. Will comment more when I get more solid information.

Thats what the cnut Jerremy Clarkson called it on a show he did called "Inventions that changed the world: Guns", In it he referred to Royal Marine Commandos as the Army, I don't think he holds much salt in the knowing true names of stuff department, but this is off topic so I will stop now!!!

The way you describe how they should (or whatever) do it sounds fairly "simple" compared to a full scale occupation, and definitely sounds like it would cause less casualties on the Israeli side, however leaving small rear-guards could prove to be bad, if they are jumpy, assuming they would use the younger, less "battle-hardened" lads for this sort of duty.

I apologise if this post is integligable but I haven't slept properly in 2 and a half days so I am kinda a bit fecked!!!
