If any of the execs in RTE had read his book they'd never give the egomaniacal creep another cent.
However they have decided to try again and he's going to be on some poxy "transformation" show with Lucy Kennedy.
It really is enough to make you sick that RTE consider him the only thing worth showing these days.

His over-enuniciated voiceover killed the thing stone dead.

the worst thing about gerry ryan is that when he stood in for the late late show when pat kenny's mum died ratings actually went up so now he's valued even more in rte... HELP!

To me he came across as very insincere during the ronny drew special ie. When ronny was singing triangle at the end the way he pretended to be emotionally effected by closing his eyes really irritated me!

    rant rant rant!

After all the self-publicity over his book, his radio show lost 9,000 listeners. Appears, gerry maybe suffering a bit of over exposure - a distrubing image I know . Perhaps there is hope.

Do you know what he does?
If he gets a bad review for whatever reason he RINGS the person who wrote it and demands to know why.
    What an utter,utter turd.

You mean he uses the PHONE to call people and find out what the story is (note the use of The Sun- style random captialisation ). The man must be hung forthwith.

Seeing as he probably knows most of the other journalists etc that write reviews, it's hardly surprising that he talks to them about it.

Is he a friend of yours or something?
he's an arroagnat twat who cant accept criticism of any sort.Rather than take it on the (double) chin he tries to bully people into trying to refrain from criticising him.

    ps
    "Random" means arbritrary.

Hmmm....I believe that when a journalist reviewed his book in the RTE guide and didn't put it on the same level as Ullysses, he confronted the said journalist and in a fit of pique he gave his next interview with the competitor publication TV Now!
I too thought that it was way too melodramatic the way he closed his eyes and swooned his head whilst listening to Ronnie sing The Auld Triangle at the end of the programme, especially as the man has absolutley no background in folk music in Ireland, nor has he ever supported it through playing it on his radio show.
At one point during the programme, he asked Ronnie what was the first song that he sang in O'Donohue's back in 1961, and when Ronnie replied that he couldn't remember, he was prompted by Ryan to "make something up"!!!!What about Finnegan's Wake!!!!Yes it was Finnegan's Wake!!!
Great subject for a TV show, but completely wrong choice of presenter.
