    Can anyone help?
I am looking for a baby grand for my daughter. I sold the upright to make room for a piece of furniture and didnt realise it would be so expensive to replace. Unfortunately, it now has to be a baby grand because I need to fit it half under the stairs! The problem is that they seem to be really expensive and I cannot afford to spend more than E2,000 max. She is quite keen and is soon to begin grade 6, (RIAM) so I do not want to buy a piece of junk! is there any hope of finding one to fit my criteria?
    Any advise?
    thanks

Hmmmmm,i dont know much about pianos but you'll be pretty lucky to get a baby grand for E2000!!. Have you considered an upright, or even a digital piano?. They would give you much better value for 2k!.

Some people are put off by the idea of a digital piano, but go into waltons some time and try out theirs. They're not quite the same as a full piano, but you should definitely consider them, especially if you're short on space!.

Thanks spoonbadger, will go into Waltons and check them out. My first preference however would be for a second hand baby grand, if any one knows anyone....!
    Thanks

hey, dont go to waltons, they are scam artists and total dickheads. I went in there with the intent of buying an ampeg amp off of them a while ago and the guy who was 'helping' me out told me that this amp was only for professional players. The cheek of him, not only that they are charging 1100 more for it than online stores.

My mates brother is a fantastic pianist and he plays on a digital piano and he says that the response/action all that lark is amazing on his one, which cost about the 1800 mark i think.

There are 2 places woth trying.. One of them is x-music. They will give you an online price and they seem to know their stuff and actually want to help you. The other is in the same industrial estate somewhere - the only reason i know its there is because its back is facing the m50 and i drive past it all the time.

Other than that, i know this sounds a little shoddy, but dublinwaste.ie has loads of people trying to get rid of pianos.. for free because it costs too much to scrap/get them moved. The only cost you will have to pay is the removal from the premises.

    good luck!

    Thanks red ice,
Yeah, I was on to Waltons and they are looking for more than E12,000 for a reconditioned! I am sure their pianos are terrific but they would want to be able to play by themselves for that money!
thanks for the other advise - I will try it.

Xmusic have a baby grand on the main floor as you walk in the door. Think it might be a digital baby grand but nice looking piano all the same. I play a digital piano and they can sound and feel very good if you invest in a good one
