Astigmatism

I've been having problems with my contacts in my left eye lately. They never quite fit right and my vision in that eye is always more blurry than the other as a result. It ranges from a bit uncomfortable to downright painful after a few hours and I have to take them out. Has anyone else had this? Are my contact lens days over :( or are there different types that work better in this situation? I wear focus dailies.
Note to self- make optician appt.

I also have an astigmatism, you need to be using toric lenses. unfortunately they don't make dalies for astigmatism so it's monthlies for me. Your optician should have told you about toric. I tried the normal dalies before and like you caused me great discomfort. have had no problems with toric.

    Thanks Loaded1973,

It's over a year and a half since I've had my eyes checked and the lenses were fine then. it's only in the past couple of months that this has been happening. I checked on yourlenses.ie and it looks like focus do daily disposable toric lenses but they're considerably more expensive than the regular ones. It's good to know there are options though. The thought of wearing monthly lenses again ughh. I'll make an appt with my optician and see what she says.

There is a focus daily toric contact lens available

Daily toric lenses aren't available for stronger astigmatism. Hopefully this will change in the future. My base prescription is very slight (<0.50 in each eye) and probably shouldn't require glasses except that I have strong astigmatism in each eye. I only wear my monthly contacts a few times a month so I don't like to work out the cost per wear. Even remembering to change the solution every couple of days is a nuisance I'd rather not have.

I have the same base perscription as you and a significant astigmatism in both eyes and wear focus dailies toric. I think you should check with your optician again as I have been using these for two years without any issues.

Thanks. The Focus Dailies Toric seem to come in cyl values of -0.75 and -1.50. The Proclear Toric lenses I'm using are -2.25. That's just under the amount in my regular prescription so I think I'm just past the limit of what's currently available in dailies. I'll ask when I go back next year, but for now I'm happy enough with the monthly lenses.

Before having laser surgery (last july) on my eyes, I wore contact lenses. I had an astigmatism in both eyes and my vision was -3.75 and -4.00 and my optician suggested I switch to Johnson & Johnson dailies called Moisture. I used to get headaches after wearing contacts for a few hours, and my eyes felt dried out. But the J&J moisture ones were fantastic. They are made for people with dry eyes and an astigmatism. Luckily, I dont have to wear contacts anymore, but I would suggest these.
