Specialized Refurb

    Hi All,
Did a bit of cycling in my teens, nothing competitive just recreational, and got myself a decent enough Specialized hard rock at the time. I got a set of slicks instead of opting for a racer as I prefer the hybrid. I wanted to trade it in and get a new one but wasnt offered very much for it so I think I'll just get new wheels, tyres etc. and keep the frame. Was wondering of I'd be better off handing it over to a pro or should I buy online and do it myself. I reckon it would be cheaper and more rewarding doing it myself, and I'd probably learn a thing or two along the way. Any advice much appreciated

i think the reason you haven't been inundated with responses here is that you haven't been very clear on what it is you're actually asking.

you have a specialized hardrock which you want to refurb? ok. what do you want to do with it? you mentioned slicks; are you looking to make a commuter of it? or do you want to return it to service as a mountain bike?

what's wrong with the bike as is? what needs doing, in your opinion?

what's your level of mechanical skill? do you have a few bike tools?

give us something to go on and you'll get plenty of advice on how-to, and recommendations as to what you need to buy to get going - they're a helpful and knowledgeable bunch around here. you just have to ask clear questions :).
