They are an aquired taste that's for sure... :pac:

They have basically released a couple of limited 80s 'reissues' these last couple of years with bright neon colours etc. And they were popular, so they have decided there's a market for wacky colours in the standard line.

Im not complaining, variety is good :)

Jem with a fixed bridge......not so sure about it either. The vine inlays are special though...makes a big difference. Are they much better than the current RG1570 for all that extra cash. Buy your own Dimarzio's for €50 each, scratchplate for €40. Then the only extra you miss, is the vine inlays. And the sticker too...

As for the new RG3570Z with the yellow gear......looks like something Vai used back in the 80's. :pac:

They're really going nuts with the sharktooth inlay too, that'd be a bit of an acquired taste for most, I'd say.

Its a US model, not going to arrive in Europe anyhow. I guess we are too conservative :pac:

It's too early in the year for GAS this bad. Voo-Du du du :D

Mirrored Shark Tooth inlays are a disaster. If the floor is dark, the inlays vanish from your eye vision. Then you get lost on the fretboard. Although those Tooth inlays are not mirrored.

Wonder why some of the paint finishes are exclusive to USA?? Not available to Paddies....

    Definite nyom!!.

'Love the s-series guitars, but i never really understood the SA ones. If you're going to get an S-series, might as well get either a hardtail or a full floating trem :).

I used to have one of the S Prestiges a few years ago. It's a very comfy shape, even though the first time you see the profile they look nuts.

I play an S670, they're really comfy and light! I think the whole body shape of them is really sexy too, so thin and nomnomnom!

I'd love one of those 24 fret ones, happy enough with mine for now though.

To be honest, the extra 2 frets are kinda overrated. Unless you're the reincarnation of randy rhoads, they're not overly important :o.

I've been gassing for one of these recently. But i know i need some sort of les paul more....which makes it even worse :D.

yea no s lefties.. i think they'd sell a lot of s lefties... the 2 leftie rg's they have usualy go well enough, and id imagine an S model over an sa would sell more... but well maybe sometimes they'll make a lefty s, they're probably my fav ibanez'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 617 ✭✭✭Demeyes

Isn't there a new Xiphos too? 27 frets I think? And I believe they will bringing out some new 7 string gear too.
It's nice to see some more maple fretboards too.

That's been up for a few weeks. Its still under construction (changes every few days, and has content added), and isn't complete.

Its not 'live' in the sense that you have to dig around the directories to find it. The homepage still takes you to the 2008 page. The 2009 page wont go live until after Namm.

I bought an old S 540 LTD last year. I love it and it has replaced my Tokai Les Paul as my main playing guitar. I never knew how good Ibanez and having a tremolo would be :D

I'm not really into those ones... It kinda seems like Ibanez designed one guitar and just rehashing it every year?

    This I love, though :)

Isn't that what Fender and Gibson have been doing for 60 years? :pac:

You could say the same about ANY guitar company. I don't know any that changes their guitar-shape every year...you wouldn't have much of a brand identity if you did that, and your guitars wouldn't be recognisable.

And in fairness, what you see there is just a small selection, and its my selection, so obviously its biased towards RGs:pac:.

You've got quite a few different electric shapes (RG, S, Iceman, Xiphos, FR, ART, JS etc) and thats not even counting the Jazzbox types, they have quite a lot of those and some are extremely highly regarded. There's new models across the board in most series.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭rcaz

I was just thinking out loud, I'm not very highly-informed on them. Every Ibanez I've ever seen (up till I clicked that link and looked at the Xiphos), apart from one Iceman, has been a superstrat-humbucker-floyd-rose-type guitar.

Fender and Gibson, not so much. I don't care for Gibson so much, but Fender seem to have a few models on the go. In the last while they've been bringing back their offsets.

I wasn't trying to be definitive, just thinking out loud.

Any new J Customs? Now that is a guitar.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

They (J-Custom) are usually updated separately from the main line-up, not until around Feb/March.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,126 ✭✭✭darrenw5094

    Roll on Feb/March.

Sure its a nice player, but im not spending ibanez money on something, that people might think is a yamaha.

    Bit hard. :D

Ah really though, the pacifica is a nice enough guitar, just switching from one of my starts to that, idk.

Ahh, i'll just stop talking now, nice guitar...
    Yes. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭rcaz

If you were going to let that put you off, you wouldn't be playing guitar, you'd be posing with it... I have a Squier strat, I really like it as a guitar, that's all that should matter. If you like a guitar, you like it. The bit of writing on the headstock doesn't mean anything if it's a nice instrument.

Sorry if I seemed overly harsh ;)

Ah no, if i like a guitar i'll buy it regardless.
It was a joke more than anything.

But i'll admit i am a bit of a brand snob, wish i wasnt... but i cant help it! :(

Im a big fan of the art 320 and 300. Wonder what they will retail at. Remind me a bit of the washburn idol series but a bit closer to a les paul. Cant wait to play one.
