I've got a Phillips DVDRecorder and it's got 2 big problems with it :
    • Every now and then it won't read discs - I get a message "Unkown disc type"
    • The DVD tray every now and then won't open, I've to smack the top of the player to get it to open.

Both problems are intermittent. Are there any TV/Video/DVD repair shops left ? All the ones I knew have closed down. I'm south west Dublin

    Hi
i have half the same problem as the OP. I also have a Philips DVD recorder and the DVD tray wont open. I have contacted an official Philips repair shop (not sure if I can mention the name so wont!) and they will look at it but it will cost me €20 upfront (which will be taken off the bill at the end) + labour + parts.
I am just wondering is there any other repair shops that I could take it to. I would be in the North Cork area (Mallow) but work in Ringaskiddy so open to any places around the city as well.
    Thanks
