Northside to southside

Hi all, i'm thinking of moving, well i have to because the rent is just way too high for us. The problem is i live in Sandyford at the moment and work is very close (about half an hour away by bus on the n11). The problem is my partner works in asbourne, meath. It's a bit of a journey for him but he has a car so it's not the worst. Anyway, we want to move somewhere that would be ideal for me to get to work in Cabinteely (buses 45, 84, 145 go along this route). I really don't mind living in the northside cos it is cheaper but don't want the journey to be more than an hour in the morning. I'd love to move to meath but i don't think it's possible to travel from meath to cabinteely each day.

Please offer your suggestions of locations :)

P.S I was thinking of these locations like Raheny as they're along the dart line and it would avoid traffic in the city centre.

    Madness.

How about you move nearer to work? The alternative is somewhere in the very city centre, parking would be a problem, although he could get a bus to Ashbourne. Bus Éireann routes 103, 104, 177.

Move to the city centre

I know it's the perfect location to get to anywhere in dublin as all routes pass through there but i wouldn't be able to handle the noise, lack of space etc etc. I like my tranquility. I don't think he'd be able to give up his car. The money he'd spend on Bus eireann each day would cost more than the money on rent we'd be saving. I'd love to move to ashbourne but it would be too expensive to travel to dublin each day.

I'm thinking the only solution is along the dart line and i could buy a monthly bus/rail ticket to get to work. The 45 from blackrock runs very often and would get me to Cabinteely and i could get from raheny (or around there) to blackrock on the dart in 20 mins. As long as it doesn't take me over an hour to get to work in the morning i'll be happy as i'll be saving money.

I would consider living in Ballsbridge or Donnybrook though. It depends what travelling to Ashbourne for my partner would be like each day though  AA irelad route planner says it takes 35 mins. That can't be right :p:p

Those times don't account for congestion or other delays.
