Anyone here ever sent a horse overseas (ie, Canada)?

Who did you use and how much did it cost? Any other advice?

    thanks in advance!

For a horse under 2 or a gelding you will find the cheapest rates. It would be around 7000 euros including taxes ect. If you have a filly or colt over 2 they are considered breeding stock and therefore horse has to spend time in extra quarantine. Stallions stay longer I think. Probably another 2000 euros on top of the base price. Normal QT is 3 days.

If you are talking about just shipping for a race and you have a filly or colt over 2, then you have special clearance time in which you can stay. Your horses are in a separate barn and then have to go back when your time is up.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks Terri

The horse is a seven-year-old race mare and has all her paperwork in place. She has been quarantined here but we've had a delay with our original shipper and just want to get her away at this stage.
