Getting my German fiance here to the USA

I need some serious help here. I am a US citizen who is in love with a German man. He was just here for the holidays and returned home today. He and I both are totally distraught because we want to marry and be together.

We need to find out the fastest way to get him here so we can get married and be together. We know we need to file paperwork but we are at a loss to which forms, if I file them here, he files there in Germany, etc.

Also, I am going to Germany in a few weeks. Would it be better or worse to marry him while I am there? If not, what paperwork would we then file and where?

    Will we need a lawyer?

If ANYONE can help me I would REALLY appreciate it. We have been researching and thus far, we think the best way id to file the I-129F for a fiance visa (K-1) and then once approved, he can come and we will have to get married within 90 days. BUT..knowing the length of time this can take as well as if we have other options is what we do not know.

Thank you for your help in advance! WE ARE TRULY IN LOVE and want to be together forever!!! It SUCKS that we cannot just marry and be as one but I know there are millions of people going through this.

    Hi,

I'm American and I married an Irishman but then promptly moved to Ireland. My impression is that it would be easier to get married in Europe/Germany than in the U.S. though it was easy enough going in to my town registrar's office and filling out the forms and being granted a marriage certificate.

We didn't have to fill out any other form other than the cert but my husband never intended to work in the States.

    Best of luck!
