    Hi,
Got a call from my sister who is visiting family in the states.
She downloaded bitttorent and seemingly got some sort of malware/virus.
Whats happening is when she opens IE she is getting redirected or popups (sorry not sure which) to adult finder and other pron sites.
    She mentioned adboosted.com?
I told her to try some apps like spybot, adaware and the likes and none of them seems to be picking up anything.
Adaware is just hanging half way through.
She ended up paying an engineer to fix it which he did (said it was a browser setting) but it came back today.
I have told her all the basic things to do but can't seem to get rid of it.
Could someone help me out please as it is ruining her holidays.
    Thanks.

What programs is she using? Tell her to try using "Super AntiSpyware" and "Malware Bytes" (both are free programs).

What Anti-Virus programs is she using? Does she have a firewall in use?

I'd suggest getting rid of whatever AV she has and download AVG Free, I found it located alot of stuff which McAfee didn't pick up when I had a trial version of it. Then tell her to go in "Control Panel" and into "Windows Firewall" and see if it's on.

Tell her also to use "Windows Update" in "Control Panel" aswell, to make sure her computer is updated.

Have you tried the software in the sticky above?

Tell her to try a different web broswer e.g. Firefox and see if she still gets the same problem.
