is there any software or way of overlaying text over video playback? etc, playing an avi file and overlaying text on it while its playing?

i think you can do it in windows movie maker by going to tools /titles and credits but it's not great.

If you just want small text at the bottom, why not Add Subtitles?

cheers but i was wondering during live video playback. doing something tv stations can do with a tickertape at the bottom of the video. obviously it would be basic.
