As reported on Bargain Alerts Tesco have a 30% discount offer (not coupons) in selected stores on Thursday on electrical items.

With current euro/sterling exchange rates, those with more of a DIY bent would be better off getting a Freesat box from the UK, but for the ordinary Joe Soap, it's not a bad price when you take the average cost of installation into account.

That's probably good value considering that Maplin's are now selling the Humax Freesat HD STB for €230. Saw it in their Galway shop today and they have it listed in their SALE magazine with the letters WOW! beside the price....! Can't even begin to understand what that's an abbreviation for - but certainly not anything in the conventional sense. Maybe it's "Wally's Oh Wally's......Who in their right mind would buy in that Rip Off shop. I believe they are approx £145 in the UK.

Was thinking about this alright. Seems perfect for me because i'm gettin a nice 40" 1080p tv next week and the room its goin in does'nt currently have any tv connections. The tv i'm gettin also has an mpeg4 tuner so i'd be able to get the irish channels and freesat without an awkward combo box:D:D

Is this definitely 299e(Including installation) at the moment?? Its just a couple of months ago i was in a tesco and i think these were 399e including installation

EDIT: hold on, i thought this was 299e at the moment without any reduction. Turns out that was a limited offer before/ Jeez i dunno, 280e might be a bit out of my price range

280eur for a HD box installed is not bad, in fairness.

indeed! Though if installation isn't on the cards for someone, buying in sterling off satellitesuperstore or argos up north is v cheap
