I have a Vision M for the last 2 years and have always loved it... but it is a bit of a brick :) so last year I was given an ipod touch for christmas and have managed to resist it despite all it's lovely functions but converting videos was the big problem for me when I could just drag and drop on my Zen...

So my Creative survived another year until this year I decided to get a Zen 16gb model... mainly due to size and the drag and drop capability....

But to my horror I now find that I need to convert videos for this too? I can drag and drop to my vision M but not to my new zen as when I do this it asks me to use the converter supplied to convert to a different format. a conversion lasts a few hours sometimes... any solution to this or a better converter?

    many thanks for any advice

Afraid not, you'll have to resize any vid you want to put on the ZEN to 320x240, this requires you to convert most of the time...can't really recommend a better converter either as the one Creative supply is actually very good.

Now, if you want a DAP that CAN play anything, just like the good old Zen Vision:M, but isn't momentously huge then you should really look at the Cowon S9. It's kind of ipod touch inspired, but without all the silly restrictions that comes with the touch. Just based on feedback it seems like the S9 is going to be the DAP release of '09 and i'm actually really looking forward to getting mine.

I love my creative, 2+ years old and still going strong. And like yourself OP i was considering an upgrade but i just haven't found anything as simple to use as the creative. I have an archos 605, but i use that mainly as a base station spending much of its life in its dvr station attatched to my "system".
