Sony DCR SR33 as a webcam

    Hello there,
    I have a Sony DCR SR33 and I'm having trouble using it as a webcam. I plug it in via usb and select the interface, but it just keeps saying 'connecting'. IS there something I need to install in order to allow it to work?

    I read a review that said I didn't need a firewire, can this be accurate?

    Could one of you talk me through it?

    I would very grateful.

    This is what happens using a new macbook!!!
    If you are using a pc I would imagine you would use a dv/firewire
