Looking to pick up a laptop in the sales for between 500-600 euro. Anyone know of any good sales...online or bricks & mortar is fine.

What are you looking for in a laptop? Currys up North had some fantastic prices but an awful lot of stuff was out of stock after the Xmas...

Currys in Belfast have a Compaq 17" with 2GB Ram for £369.

Its not actually for me...the person will mainly use it for college work/web browsing but doesnt want a notebook. So basically the best laptop possible for 500-600 euro.

    Is this a good price ? http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/Samsung_R510_NP-R510-AA01UK/version.asp

Unfortunately traveling up North is not an option.

what's the story with laptopsdirect? When I go to purchase a laptop, it gives me the price excluding VAT. Does this mean it is coming from the UK and I must pay 21.5% VAT when I get it?

I dont know which one you are looking at but the 17" Acer I linked to in my last post shows : €483.24 inc. VAT
    €420.21 exc. VAT
