Not necessarly, for a putter it's your own preference. I'm 5'9" and use a 34" putter, my mate is 5'11" and his is tiny I think 28", the idea is he is leaving his hands hang. I've tried various, and 34" works for me.

I would echo what Woodgate said above. Putter length is down to what is comfortable to you, and allows you to make a fluid and unrestricted stroke. The one thing to look out for however is as you are quite tall, using a very short putter could place excessive strain on the lumbar area of the back, so I would be inclined to seek advice from your pro to ensure your posture is correct when purchasing. The other thing to remember is of course that a putter can be lengthened or shortened at relative ease by most competent pros, so that is important to keep in mind.

The standard size is 35". I am 5"6 and use a 33" putter which is perfect for me. I find it helps me get over the ball better. Given your height, there shouldnt be any real problem with you using a standard length putter but given the choice i think a 36" or 37" putter would suit you that little bit better.

I'm 5'11 and use a 35" putter, however i grip down a bit on the putter so that the tip of my finger is actually off the grip and on the steel shaft. Its very much personal prefference, Dad is 5'8 and he uses a 36" putter so its really a matter of choice.

    Regards
    Ian
