Sorry my maths was never too good.I switched from Plan B Options €75 per month to we plan level 2 which is €44.17 monthly which works out at about 41% cheaper than VHI.I thought I worked out an example that was 60% cheaper.

As a matter of interest, I do not currently have any health insurance and I was just wondering if this discount scheme only applies to people with insurance already?

No, AFAIK the discount is for anyone signing up with Hibernian Health, first time insurers just have to serve a 26/52 week wait period which is common across all health insurers..

Are the prices that the health in companies are quoting net of tax. Also how is this relief that Mary Harney promised to VHI customers expected to work?

Yes you can get the discount too but there will be waiting periods for pre existing conditions of 5 years and 6 months for new conditions and no waiitng period for accident or injury.

Yes the prices are quoted net of tax. The levy when added will work out as about 128 euro per annum net. Funny VHI claim that they are not adding the levy although they increased their prices on average by 23%....for some ! Figure that one out. Good few threads on this subject matter at Banking & Insurance thread.
