    Hi boardsies ... need some advice.

    It seems that the freehub on the rear wheel of my lemond has seized. And it seems to have happenned quite suddenly ... and thankfully I noticed when trying to clean the chain and not when I was on it ...:eek:

    Is it now a case of changing the freehub ... or can i just remove the bearings and replace.

    Is this what I need? I am running an 8 speed cassette ... which option should I choose? I thought that all 8 speed freehubs bodies would work ... is that not the case.

    Also, in case I am looking for just the bearings ... which ones do I need.

    Waiting on my chain whip & lock ring remover to get at the hub body.

    Confused

    It's never happened to me before, but if the freehub is seized, then it's probably the ratchet mechanism rather than the bearings. Once you can open the hub up, try cleaning it and regreasing it.

    Hi there, I know this doesn't answer your question, but can I ask you one thing? How do you insert a link to a website and covering it basically with a word (like "this" in your previous post)? I am sick of putting in long web addresses when I want to mention something! Again, sorry its not an answer for you, but I would really appreciate your help! Thanks in advance ;)

    easy

    Just add a ] after the second " in what you've got above...

    As Sean says ... or for lazy people like me who don't link typing ... just type the text you want to show ... and click the following button
    picture.php?albumid=339&pictureid=1695
    and then insert the link you want to show in the window that pops up.

    Thanks to Tiny's generosity .. managed to get the cassette off without having to wait for my Lifeline tool kit from Wiggle ..

    @Tiny ... Thanking you sir

    With the cassette off. .. I thought I could take the freehub off straight way ... but it looks like I have to take the locknot, cones & axle off to get at the holding bolt for the freehub ... please correct me if I am wrong here ..

    So it ends up I have to wait for the tool kit anyway to get the hub spanners ... tried it with other spanners ... but I think I do need the thin ones meant for the hub nuts
