    Hi,

When do you have to be back at school? Maybe you could go over for a week or so over the Christmas break. What do you think about that? I have suicidal thoughts every day of my life now but I have learned to 'dismiss' them. I have tried suicide twice and it is the hardest thing to do; so hard that I now don't think I'll ever have the balls to end-up doing it.

Anyway, while it is good that you told your brother what is on your mind, it would also be a good idea to go to a doctor. You could ask your parents to arrange an appointment with the local doctor for you, but just say that it is a personal matter that you'd only feel comfortable talking to the doctor about.

    Hi.

if i was in your position, I'd accept the offer. With all the stress of the Leaving cert, it really isnt going to help. The change of location might help you take your mind off things.

The leaving cert is only an exam. Serriously!

ok, it can make getting a Brill job easier, but you have to remember its not the be all and end all. You can take it next year, or the year after, or never!

If you go to the uk. Will your brother be able to support you? I'm assuming your between 16 -18ish. you could go to london, get a job, and see where that takes you. You could love london.

    Hey,

I wanted to ask when did these thoughts begin, and why do you think you have them?

You have nothing to be sorry about, you are clearly under a lot of pressure and if you feel you should go to London, you should go. It's a great place! :)

I hope the responses here makes you feel a bit better, keep safe.

I think the first thing you should do is get professional help. Yes, there is the option of London and a change is often as good as a rest, but only if your heads is in it. If you're having these thoughts it isn't. You've the stresses of the LC and the stresses inherent in life(especially teenage years) and that can overwhelm anyone. At times like that you need a hand. Think of it like a broken leg, you wouldn't try to walk around on a broken leg. You would go and get a doctor to set it and slap a cast on. Same thing here. Have you access to a counselor? Could you approach your GP? Could your brother who you seem close to, get you a counselor over in London?

There are always options. You owe it to yourself to keep those healthy options open.

Sounds like a good idea, he must be a great brother! :) A change of scenery could do you good.

Don't worry about the leaving cert, it'll always be there for you to go back to. The main priority is feeling better yourself. And if you're really concerned about missing exams etc, you could always do A-level exams over in London. I know it's not the leaving cert, but you can still get into university with them if that's what you wanted to do.

I hope you start feeling better soon :)

Finish your leaving cert and get it out of the way. Alot of people get depressed prior to the exams, but tough it out and you'll have alot to look forward to when finished. 99% of people who drop out before the leaving cert will never go back to finish it. Keep this in mind.

Why are you feeling suicidal? Going away to another country isn't going to sort out everything. You need to talk about it. We could always offer you an ear if you want to tell us what is bothering you.

london's not for everyone, you could end up lonely if you find it difficult making friends.

Look for help here, maybe your brother would pay for weekly counseling instead of putting you up in london.

Hey there, almost everyone has suicidal thoughts, i get them fairly often. You are not alone here.If its worry about your exams, i suggest try not worry!! The leaving cert is only one exam in your life, its not the end of the world.I have friends who have successful businesses and haven't even a junior cert. You should go to your GP and explain your feelings, he can help you, you might be just a bit depressed which in turn is bringing up these thoughts.Feel free to PM me if you want

OP the best thing you can do for yourself and your future is get help for this. Suicidal thoughts are a pretty big sign that something is amiss. While it may not seem it now there are ways forward and ways out of this situation you feel yourself to be in. The solution is out there and you are not the first person to feel like this. You won't be the first person to get through it to a better place. Time brings changes and progress if you let it and when you look back in years to come you will be surprised how the things that upset and worry you now, will seem so so much less.

Best of luck, but luck needs a push and getting the help you deserve is the first step in that.

I'm closing the thread as there's only so much people here can do and indeed should do.

PS if you want to start a new thread as a way of getting your thoughts out please do.
