Trying to set up so I can view my laptop on my tv, movies etc.

Have vga connected both and get a no sync message on the tv screen.

strangely, when the laptop was booting I briefly had the laptop display on the tv.

Am I missing something simple :o

40" hdtv + vga is not going to equal a great hookup anyway. You dont happen to have an hdmi port? That would make your life so much simpler

i hooked up my PC with Sony LCD 40" and the picture is brilliant. Should be same for laptop.
Go to Display properties> Settings and make sure you enabled second display (mark it as attached)
Then try pressing Fn+F8 on the laptop
If still not working reboot laptop once

You need to go into graphics properties and choose to enable VGA output (depends on the laptop). VGA out, is not automatically enabled on all laptops.

Personally I find it far easier to just use a S-Vid output (there is SVid in, along with audio in on the panel on the left hand side of your Bravia panel. Its so much more convenient.......)

Yep I do the same. I think its Fn F10/F5/F8. depends what laptop. The picture is of a screen like a 3D box. the screen on the laptop should be black and then it should appear on the TV.
