    from apple.com:

"A new era in animated storytelling begins on 9.9.09. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton (The Corpse Bride, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Nightwatch) join forces to produce wunderkind director Shane Acker’s distinctively original and thrilling tale. 9 stars Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and Crispin Glover and features the music of Danny Elfman. When 9 (The Lord of the Ring’s Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them."

    looks pretty good.

I have to admit this looks the business.
Would love to know who did the music for the trailer. Does anybody know?

At the start it's The Captain by The Knife, a band most definitely worth looking into

    The rest I don't know.

Just seen this today. I thought it was really good. Great concept and the animation was really well done. It was a little short but it was aimed at kids (sort of). It does have some tense moments and some good action. The evil creatures where really well done also.

Might not be suitable for the youngest of kids.

All in all a really good little movie but it could have fleshed its story out a little more.

It wasn't as good as I expected but was good nonetheless.

As above, all that I can praise outright is the animation.
There was really nothing outstanding or original about the plot, characters or even the ending.

However, it was entertaining for what it was.

I watched this last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Animation was top notch, the story while it brought nothing new to the "post apocalyptic" table was a little darker than i was anticpating and the bit
where the brain monster sucked the souls out of the little guys was highly disturbing and brilliant!
And over all it was a solid entertaining flick. 7/10

That pretty much nails how I feel. As I said in a different thread, it just felt like they were queueing up the set pieces one after another. While they were pretty impressive, I just thought it was a little shallow.

Im just wondering did they cut a lot of the character building scenes out to shorten the movie and quicken the pace. Hate when this happens.

No, the movie was just an expanded version of a short story that was made a few years ago.

    Yeah. I seen that short.

But im sure stuff was cut from this. Well it had the feeling it was anyway.

Well there was definately some sort of feeling of un-finished about the film.

Perhaps becasue they were trying to desperately expand upon the original without o ver doing it.

I happened to watch this last night, while it was a very good idea (hadn't seen the short story btw) I thought it was very short and ended very abruptly.

I think I remember the running time was 1 hour 12 mins, which compared to Up then it is considerably short. Maybe they just ran out of ideas on how to expand on the short story...

The ~70minute mark is spot on for the Burton animated movies so far (Well, Nightmare and Corpse Bride).
