OAK @ TB Tampa need the win and have been very good at home. Easy win.

CLE @ PIT The Steelers can do no better than second seeds and will rest most of their players so I see the Browns winning this one.

CAR @ NO Carolina have to win this one and while the Saints will score plenty they won't be able to stop the Panthers.

NYG @ MIN The Giants will probably rest all their starters and Vikings need the win.

TEN @ IND I presume the Colts will rest all their starters and while the Titans might also do the same, I think they win this one with half a team playing.

CHI @ HOU The Bears need it badly and while the Texans are decent offensively, they don't have a good enough defense to stop the Bears.

DET @ GB No pressure on the Packers and at home they have a chance to make the history books by making the Lions 0-16 for the season.

    KC
@ CIN Both teams have been very poor this season but the Chiefs have improved and I see them hammering the sorry Bengals.

NE @ BUF The Patriots have been a lot better over the second half of the season and no reason why they don't win here, I don't like that this game is not running at the same time as the other one in the Division because if we win the Jets know their fate before they take the field. Its all wrong.

JAC @ BAL The Ravens win this one by a cricket score.

SEA @ ARI Seahawks have been terrible all season but the Cards are poor and that means their second string must be horrendous.

WAS @ SF The Redskings always turn it on when it does not matter so they win here.

MIA @ NYJ If the Jets are still in the hunt at 4.15 pm they will beat the Dolphins but if they are out well I just don't know how they will approach this game. I don't like it at all though.

DAL @ PHI No pressure on Dallas to perform as their season is done and thats why I pick them to win here.

DEN @ SD San Diego have a powerful offense but I don't think they are good under pressure and their defence is terrible, expect Cutler to go close to his best yardage performance ever and that will be enough to see off the Chargers.

    Happy Christmas everyone.

I think San Diego might win it all this year. I just can't shake the feeling there's a fairytale ending here for them. Either way, 8-7 Denver won't stop them.
New England to win, Dolphins could spoil Brett Favre's last ever game*, but probably won't.

So New England and the Chargers in the playoffs after all. Great, just .... great :(

Rest of the AFC games won't matter. Manning will probably play a half (if only to complete his 9th 4,000 yard season), but a meaningless game forthe Colts.

In the NFC - Vikes won't beat Giants. No way, no how. Chicago will win NFC North. Tampa Bay will win, and I will be stunned if Dallas win in Philly.

All in all, the AFC will again look the stronger conference, and it'll be an AFC team to win the SB. COME ON DENVER/MIAMI!!!!!!!!!!

    *(maybe)

I don't know about the Pats, I want it to happen obviously but if the Jets know they cannot make it, you could see a few below par performances as they have nothing to play for.

I don't know how you think the Giants will win, they have the no.1 seed wrapped and have nothing to play for, and Coughlin will most rest all his important players like Jacobs, Ward, Toomer and Boss as well as Manning.

Missing the Grudge match between Philly and the Cowboys. I really hope that the Cowboys stick it McNabb and that shower !!!! I feel for the Eagles like most of you guys do for the Cowboys !!!! sheer annoyance !!!

Ps...this is only my second year mad into the NFL, and I am wondering whether there is any way the Cowboys can go forward ???

OAK @ TB - Bucs should easily win at home
CLE @ PIT - Second string Steelers should still be too good for the Browns
CAR @ NO - Panthers need to win to secure first round bye so should be too strong here.
NYG @ MIN - Hoping the Viks lose for my Bears sake.
TEN @ IND - Two second string teams here but the Colts are on a roll.
CHI @ HOU - Come on Bears, they have sneaked a few dodgy wins the last few weeks and wouldn't say no to another one here and grab that NFC North
DET @ GB - Would love to see Lions win one but each time i think they might do it they fail badly so going for Packers here.
KC @ CIN - Bengals on a good run should come out on top.
NE @ BUF - Patriots to win easy and put pressure on Fins
JAC @ BAL - Ravens played well last week and should keep it going here
SEA @ ARI - Dangerous bad run of form for the Cardinals since they secured their playoff spot and they need to halt it before wildcard match.
WAS @ SF - Skins had good win last week and should get another one here
MIA @ NYJ - Fins have their fate in their own hands. Pennington to win in New York, what a kick in teeth for Jets
DAL @ PHI - Just cant believe Romo can play as bad as last week.
DEN @ SD - Has to be chargers after the last few weeks

    Last week - awful 6-10
    Overall - 136-88

That's that for Manning - 4,000 yards wrapped up. 95 yards & TD in the opening drive.

    MVP?

My bad, I thought the Bucs were ahead of them after their loss. That changed my prediction, if they can make it Romo messes up, just seen the score and it looks like thats happening. I'm watching the Jets-Dolphins as you can imagine being a Patriot.

The Cowboys are a sham. They have been soooo poor at times this season, and this epitomises this.

A 24 point haul for the Eagles in on quarter must be close to a season record

Patriot fan here so need Favre to do me a favour in this game.

He's not helping : 10/24 1 td 2 int (one for td) They just scored a td but Favre isn't looking well

    17-14 there.

    Tampa Bay are out!

Wade Phillips will need to consider his position after this on. To concede 44 points to the Eagles in 45 miniuties is a disgrace

Not entirely his fault, the whole organisation is in disarray.

Jerry Jones needs to go away and die.

I don't think Wade needs to consider his position, his boss probably sacked him already.Jerry Jones doesn't hang around with coaches that don't get it done.

All abroad the fail boat for the Jerry Jones/cowboys and brett farve this season Brett Farve. Farve has been just awful this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,450 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Well the Jets didn't help us, and no surprise there. Still it sucks to be out of the playoffs with an 11-5 record. I predicted at the start of the season after Brady's injury that we would still go 12-4 but I never thought that we'd need to do that to win the division. The shock home loss to Miami is what cost us a run in the playoffs. :(

Miami are going no further imo but a huge improvement by the Jets and Dolphins and even the Bills means its going to be tough again next year.

Cassel will be gone, he is going to be a starter somewhere on pretty big money. He has been very impressive over the second half of the season.

Overall, I'm gutted right now, but very proud of the way our team has performed through the season, without the best QB in football and our no.1 running back. Bring on next season already, cannot wait to get back on top of the NFL. :)

Dont agree with the dying part.

This season has been terribly underwhelming for the Cowboys. After the 4-0 Start I felt that the team was getting it right, then the defeats to the Cardinals and the Skins derailed that. Defeats to the likes of St Louis compounded that, and the hockying at Giants Stadium was always on the cards.

The Win over the Skins was my best moment of the season, when Bennett caught that late one. Further wins over the 49ners and the Seahawks built a false sense of security, before that disgraceful defeat to Pittsburgh. Fair play to Rothlisburger and his crew, but it was a game that should never have been lost. The defeat of the Giants was a setup before the disapointing defeat to Baltimore, and tonight's debacle.

Looking at Anthony Fasano against the Jets tonight, I realise that a mistake has been made. I wish Jason Witten had been traded to the Dolphins instead.

For Next year I would really like to see Tshard Choice, Felix Jones, Marcellus Bennett, Brooks Bollinger and one or two other youngsters given a real chance. I would like to be able to throw Fasano into that mix, but that is not to be. I also hope to see the re-engagement of Matt McBriar and Roy Williams (not the disapointing wide reciever, but the defensive one) into the team. This "All Star" axis of Romo, TO, Witten and Barber just seems to have run out of steam, and I would rather it be broken up. Not for one second would suggest that all should be traded, however, I feel the Cowboys need to be less reliant on them

Flozell Adams needs some mental coaching. His penalty concession record for 2008/2009 has been pathetic. He has cost the Cowboys more than a few hundred yards this term.

The only player that I am truly happy with this season in Demarcus Ware. His sacking was truly superb.

On the whole, my second full season as a Cowboys fan has been very disheartening.

PS....Good Luck to Brett Favre. Shame he didnt get to round his career off with more play offs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 876 ✭✭✭DonkeyPokerTour

What odds on the pats and the cowboys both missing the play offs before the season started?? even after Brady got injured I didn't see that happening!! The bears must be kicking themselves, the Vikings won so they couldn't win the division but if they'd won their game the got the results needed to take the wild card. As it turned out the most unlikely team got into the play offs!

As a Giants fan I am happy that neither the pats nor Cowboys got to the play offs, both are good teams on their day, particularly the Pats, but I know I'll have to listen to the Pats fans around my town going on about "We finished 11-5 and still didn't make the play off's, that hasn't happened since 19........" that will frustrate me no end. But you have to give it to the Dolphins 1-15 to 11-5 is a good turn around, Chad P has to be in the mix for MVP, very steady.

Lions 0-16, well things can only get better!

    Roll on the play offs!

I'm sorry but I completely disagree with this. Witten's had more receptions (81 to 34), more yards (952 to 454), more 1st downs (50 to 26) The only area of difference is tds at 7 to 4, which is obviously better but all round Witten's far better than Fasano IMO.

Bollinger's 29. I firmly believe that Romo's entrenched in that starter job.

    My opinion!

Also Favre's been dreadful all year. All that hype about him coming to the Jets, his td/ints ratio - 22/22.
What a downturn from his brilliant year last season with the Pack.

And Drew Brees falls 16 yards short of Marino's record!

Well, Chargers Colts next week will be an amazing shoot out:D

I expect the Falcons to take the Cardinals.

Dolphins Ravens is a very tough one to call. Will be a tight game.

Eagles to beat the Vikings too.

    Can't wait for next week:D

Im very pedantic about the dying thing !!!!! Sorry

When I referred to Bollinger as young...its all relative to Brad Johnson !!! In fairness...Romo would be the last player I would drop to break the Barber, TO, Witten and Romo axis

I still maintain that Witten is the most metally vunerable of all of the Cowboy's stars. I suppose I am still sore that they traded Fasano !!!

I think Romo is proven as a fraud now guys. Obviously i'm a bit biased as i'm an Eagles fan but i've been watching a choker play for us for the last 10 years at QB (and as much as I love DMac he is a choker!) and romo makes him look clutch.

In all honesty if Reid actually realises you need a balanced offense to succeed and uses our running game the only team i'd completely write us off against is the Colts... That being said while I firmly believe we could beat everyone else i've also no doubt they could beat us too... Still Dawkins is a first ballot for sure! what a performance.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,341 ✭✭✭✭Chucky the tree

Bit harsh on Romo no? I didnt see the game last night but alot I really think the o-line is hugely over-rated. I cant rememer who it was against but I remember the centre snapping the ball a good few times at completely the wrong time. One cost them a safety aswell, and it wasnt romo's fault because no one else on the o-line was expectin that either.

Against the Ravens he got them back into the game last on twice only for the defence to get burnt twice in a row for over 70yards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,308 ✭✭✭Pyjamarama

I'm not saying the guy has no talent but time and time again when the pressure is on he makes bad throws. Last night he blamed the co-ordinators for not adjusting to the fact that the Eagles D seemed to have figured out his hot reads... you know what, as a starter it's YOUR job to adjust. And to be a leader which dumping the blame on the coaches doesn't accomplish. His throw on the Sheldon Brown int was shocking to be honest.

Well as an Eagles fan, I'd firstly like to thank Jeff Garcia and the Bucs for doing a great job in losing to Oakland. A fact that should be noted was that Al Davis was not in Tampa and the Raiders won...

But the season as a whole was a usual Eagles season with a few ups and downs but a pretty good ending. Next year is my tenth year as an Eagles fan and a trip is in order for next year. But Mcnabb came through and the whole team did and Brian Fing Dawkins is a god of some sort and Westy as well was great in parts of the season. And Desean Jackson was a great find and improvements will happen next season.

Well when training camp started, I said we would make the playoffs and we did,but we made it alot harder than it should have been.

And to the Cowboys fan who posted above. The whole Romo, T.O, Witten and Garrett thing has to end IMO. And three words describe T.O "locker room CANCER." He did in San Fran, he certainly was it in Philly and is one of a number of factors of the cowboys failed season. A talented player no question but what a w****r he comes across as.

His paranoia about a Romo-Witten conspiracy against him is another indication of his poor mindset. I would be less critical of Romo or Owens, then I would be of Witten (in spite of his natural attributes and relative successes)

I think there are other problems. Losing Matt McBriar for Sam Paulescu, the injury to Roy Williams, the negation of Patrick Crayton's role spring to mind.

However, it is clear that there is some major problems with the Cowboys at the moment.
