Plastic ring guards?!

    Hi all!

Much to my shock and delight, my boyfriend proposed with a beautiful ring last weekend. :D

I've had it resized as it was about a size and a half too big. Unfortunately, it still doesn't feel 'secure', slides around a bit although won't go past my knuckle without a bit of a push. I'm just terrified I'd still loose it. The jeweller said it was a perfect size since my hands will swell in summer anyway but I'm not convinced.

In the mean time, I was thinking of getting one of those plastic ring guards just for that added security. Anyone know where I could pick one up in the city centre/grafton st area?

    Thanks

Most good jewelers should have these but from working in one we were always told that they're a very bad idea for long term use, really you need to get it looked at again to try and find a solution and the ring may need re-setting

Oh congratulations! Go and get it downsized again just a little bit. Its not like we get real hot summers.

Thanks very much :) I'm still 'glowing' :D

I found a little pack of 'ring snuggles' in Clares Accessories which has done for the time being. They're just small rubber things that go around the back of the ring.

Do you know if jewellers can go down just a quarter size?

    Ta!!!

Not sure about a quarter size, I know they can definitely do a half size. Best bet is call in to the jeweller and try on the little sample rings. Go with what you feel most comfortable with. When I got my ring, the girl who measured me insisted I was a size N, I wasn't so sure, and I constantly felt like my ring was falling off. I went back in and got another girl (the one who was showing us the engagement rings) to measure me and the right size for me was L and 1/2. I'm much more comfortable wearing my ring now, and it makes such a huge difference not being always afraid it'll fall off and I'll lose it!!!
