I used to love paintball and am wondering if airsoft is the same kind of thing.Id love to try it and am really interested in it but Iv heard that airsoft is an expensive past time. Was hoping you guys could give me some guidance on the whole airsoft world, as everything i have heard is mostly secondhand information.

These will answer most of your questions.

Airsoft is only as expensive as you let it be. It's addictive though.

In the short term it's actually cheaper than paintball to get started, you can buy your own AEG for as little as 150euro or less and after that all you'll need is BBs and protective face/eyewear of some description.

Long term... BBs are a *hell* of a lot cheaper than paintballs, however people into airsoft have a tendency to own several AEGs rather than just one. Then there's pistols, grenades... etc... But, you can play just fine with only one gun, just most of us like to collect them :)

Welcome to airsoft. You dont have to be mad to play but.......no ye do.

Airsoft can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be.
The best thing would be to get down to your local site, get a rental package and play. Everyone there will be uber friendly, it will scare you a little bit. People are fairly gear-proud and have no problems showing you their latest purchase/fav gun. You will see something that catches your eye, fall in love with the sport and then be broke like the rest of us.

There are always sales on here for vavious items (uniforms, masks, vests etc.).

All the information you need to know is in this forum: http://boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1119

    Hope to shoot ye soon.
