Lothian Buses is the PUBLICLY owned "Dominant" operator in Edinburgh.

When people go jibbering about comparisons in Bus Services we tend to get loads of London Buses,TfL,Paris,Berlin,Sao Paulo or Ulan Bator type comparisons.

However for anybody wishing to make realistic comparisons take a look at Edinburgh...better still take a day trip courtesy of RiskyAir and buy a £3 Day ticket and sample what we could and should be aspiring to in terms of acheivable affordable Bus services.

Go to their website www.lothianbuses.com and take careful note of how the company handles the forthcoming fare rise.
Note too,the comprehensive explanations of route cuts and amalgamations with full details up NOW for changes in mid January.

It makes Dublin Bus and the Department of Transport resemble some form of institution for the deranged.

I would also draw attention to the fact that Lothian Buses Managing Director Niall Renilson retires this year at 53 years of age having "achieved his goals for the company" and fulfilling a promise made to himself to retire before 55.

Just peruse the Lothianbuses site and take it in.........

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.
