How much is too much.

Well with work and family life i've been able to fit in 5-6 training sessions a week but this january I'll have little more time on my hands and will be able to do as much as I like.

I was thinking of putting in 2 swims and 2 gym session also a week. Would 10 session be too much to do ?

The swims won't be anything too much just 30-45 mins before work in the morning.

I read swimming is good the morning after a hard session. Its hard to tell how your body will respond to the extra work. Try ease into it and see how it goes -trial and error, but take it easy - small steps.

Guess it depends on how hard you do the 10 sessions. Sounds like your swimming is going to be more like a recovery session, plus there is good variety in it (i.e. 6 runs + 2 gym + 2 swim).

Just remember that when you up your training volume (number of sessions) then up your fuel intake also. On days when you are doing 2 or even 3 sessions try to sneak a power nap between, it will do you the world of good. Alternate heavy and light sessions.

When doing so many sessions it is easy to do a session for the sake of doing a session or from force of habit. Focus on quality not quantity. If you feel like crap just skip a session and recovery.

    Don't forget to rest!

When you get injured or chronically tired, then it's too much.

Unless you've crossed that threshold, nobody can tell for sure how much would be too much.

Personally, I found the step from 5 to 6 days running easy, and the step from 6 to 7 days per week just as easy. Now I can't even imagine doing regular rest days any more.

Thanks thats what I was thinking , Won't do 10 sessions the first week. At the moment i've been on about 5-7 a week with 5-6 days running and one gym session, but some need to get better quality work in the gym.
