94/95 Ireland soccer jersey signed by team

    Hi guys,

    In 94/95 the physio to the Irish soccer squad Mick Byrne visited out primary school and raffled an signed jersey which I won. I never did anything with it, have no heed on it and have no idea how much it might be worth. Got a few big names on it like Roy Keane, Steve Staunton etc but perhaps it wouldn't be of much interest.

    Does anyone have any guesses? Is there anywhere better than ebay for selling this kind of thing? Also I see people have mentioned authenticity certs- don't have anything like that!

    Hello SueWho;

    What have you done with the jersey - Have you managed to sell it ? If not, what sort of price are you looking at for the jersey?

    Hi Mj,

    I still have this jersey I just honestly don't know what it's worth. I guess it's worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it :) Are you interested? Do you know of any method of valuing these things?

    Hi SueWho,

    I've no idea where you can get it valued. You find signed jersey's on Ebay & various other sites going from €50 up. Most collector's of memorabilia will look for a authentic COA to verify it's originality. I'm interested in the jersey but if you can get it valued - that will give you a better idea of what price you should look for. Please keep me posted SueWho.

    Kind Rgds

    I read on ebay about COAs... I'm guessing all I can do is maybe contact the FAI and see if I could get someone to see it and if they would issue me with a cert. I don't see how there is any other way to get a COA that's really worth anything or would be accepted as genuine proof of the authenticity. I will keep let you know how I get on with it and I'll definitely give you a shout if I can get some kind of a value.

    Hi SueWho,

    There may be some companies that specialise in determining the value of items like your jersey. I don't think the FAI will much use to you as the it's been some 12 years now but also any COA from them will be normally given at the time they released the signed jersey plus I don't think it's necessary for the FAI to oversee every Ireland jersey that is signed and donated for raffles.
    On the other hand SueWho, you can always sell the jersey without a COA as plenty of jerseys are sold without them !! Yes - a COA would be better, value wise but if the jerseys in good condition and the signatures are very clear - it can always be sold. Set yourself a minimum price that your willing to accept and put it out there and see how it goes, I for one will tell you yes or no.
    In the meantime if I find any companies who can give a valuation, I'll pass on there details.
    Best of luck and keep us posted.

    Kind rgds...
